SAD, PTL International’s Apple Premium Reseller and Business Solutions company in Poland, has won a Mobile Trends Award for its TV streaming app developed for Polish public broadcasting network TVP.
The Award for Mobile Entertainment was presented to SAD’s Director of Corporate Sales Bartosz Sulek during the Mobile Trends Conference in Krakow.
SAD is Poland’s largest Apple retailer. It operates 22 Apple Premium Resellers under the iSpot brand across Poland, and encompasses a corporate division providing business, broadcast, telecoms and media communities with networks and systems using Apple and third party hardware and software.
PTL International, the technology subsidiary of Hili Ventures, acquired SAD in July last year.
The app live streams 18 channels of TVP programming and broadcasts from Poland’s Parliament on mobile devices using IOS, Android and Windows operating systems. Additional functionality allows on demand streaming of popular information programmes and sports events. Last summer, all FIFA 2014 World Cup fixtures and Sochi Winter Olympics events were streamed on the app. Users were able to view Olympic events from a selection of camera feeds. More than 700,000 subscribers used the app in 2014.
The annual Mobile Trends Awards reward innovation in mobile projects, applications, websites, and mobile campaigns. A committee made up of technology, design and user experience professionals shortlists submissions that are then put up for a nationwide vote.
TVP awarded the project to SAD in 2013 with a brief to bring the TV network’s vast programming to mobile users any time, anywhere. SAD was entrusted with developing a complete TV streaming platform, including a backend encoding live streams and video on demand. The app is currently running its third version and more development is planned.
SAD handled all technical development and coding while the design and development teams collaborated with business partner Looksoft.
This is SAD’s second major project in mobile app development after the ambitious project to live stream parliamentary sessions for the Polish authorities.
“Winning a coveted Mobile Trends Award is a remarkable achievement for our talented team at SAD, beating stiff competition from other innovative projects. Most importantly, the award recognizes the seamless user experience that the team worked tirelessly to perfect,” PTL International Chief Executive Kenneth Spiteri said. “SAD continues to build on its technical development capabilities to bring more innovation to mobile device users in Poland and in other territories. This is part of PTL International’s underlying investment strategy – to diversify and cultivate innovation through its various companies.”
