The Minister for Education and Employment, Evarist Bartolo, this morning presented 16 teenage students with certificates on the successful completion of the VET Award in Introduction to Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW). This programme results in an MQF Level 2 qualification.
The presentation was held at Motherwell Bridge Industries’ workshop in Hal Far.
The course was run by Motherwell Bridge Industries’ technical training facility in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Employment and Training Corporation, under the Alternative Learning Programme. Motherwell Bridge Industries is the engineering division of Hili Ventures.
The students are the first to complete this course at Motherwell Bridge Industries, which is an accredited MCAST Apprenticeship Partner.
Motherwell Bridge Industries’ technical training facility gives course participants the opportunity to learn through practice in an industrial workshop environment. Experienced trainers lead a range of courses from beginner to advanced levels.
A lecture room is situated within the main building and is accessible from the workshop. The technical training facility includes booths conforming to the latest industry standards, fitted with welding machines for different processes. Each welding booth is fitted with a fume extraction system.
“Motherwell Bridge Industries is equipped to deliver comprehensive technical training and aims to address the growing demand of specialized skills from various industries,” Motherwell Bridge Industries Managing Director Tony Mallia said. “It gives us great pleasure at Motherwell Bridge Industries to contribute to the development and training of promising young people as an accredited MCAST Apprenticeship Partner. We share these students’ sense of achievement and we wish them well as they embark on careers in industry.”
