Carmelo Caruana Company, a legacy logistics provider in Malta and the Mediterranean, proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Founded in 1923 by Carmelo Caruana, the company started as a small business importing grain. Through innovation, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to excellence, it evolved into a comprehensive one-stop-shop for logistics services, supporting businesses in Malta, the Mediterranean, and beyond.

“We are immensely proud to celebrate this significant milestone,” said Melo Hili, CEO of Hili Ventures, the international group which Carmelo Caruana Company forms part of. “Our hundred-year journey is filled with moments of resilience and triumph and our long-standing reputation is testament to the loyalty and stewardship of our dedicated team.”

From pioneering ship-to-ship oil transfer operations in the 1980s, to handling logistics for the gas pipeline project between Libya and Sicily in the early 2000s, Carmelo Caruana Company has continued to broaden its reach and diversify its services. Today, Carmelo Caruana Company manages operations in Valletta and Marsaxlokk ports, and offers a comprehensive suite of maritime services.

To commemorate the centenary, Carmelo Caruana Company has planned a series of initiatives. To underscore its commitment to making a positive impact in the community, the company is collaborating with the Malta Maritime Museum to add an artefact to their collection. This will form part of their permanent exhibit for both visiting tourists and the public to enjoy. Employees at Carmelo Caruana will also be embarking on a 100-hour volunteering initiative, demonstrating the company’s ethos of giving back to the community that has been an integral part of its success story.
